When you think of braces, this is probably what comes to mind:

Metal Braces

Metal braces, or brackets, are the traditional form of braces.

Braces Example

Braces work to improve your smile by gradually, gently realigning your teeth. Braces consist of a system of metal brackets, wires, and bands. The brackets are attached to the front of your teeth and are connected to each other through the use of a metal wire and bands. As we adjust the wire, the braces guide your teeth to their ideal positions in your smile.

Brackets

Brackets are the metal square that is directly bonded to the front surface of the tooth and look like two upright rectangles.

Color Ties

At each regularly scheduled appointment, patients are able to choose one, or two, color ties to put around the bracket. The funnest part about braces!

Wires Example

Wires

Wires are thin metal arches that slide through the center of the brackets and connect them to one another. Patients will move through a series of wires, from thin to thick.
